We (Bryce and Alec) started Equity Mates on a balcony in 2017. Two mates, no finance background, trying to figure out investing by interviewing the people who actually knew what they were doing. We recorded it, put it on the internet, and it turned out we weren't the only ones with questions.

Nine years on, Equity Mates Media is Australia's biggest network for everyday investors. We now produce award-winning podcasts, YouTube channels, a daily news brief, best-selling books and have a community of 830,000 Australians who use our content to figure out their money.

We exist because finance isn't taught in schools and most financial content treats you like you should already know it. We ask the dumb questions so you don't have to.

FinFest is the loudest version of what we do. A festival, not a conference. Built for everyone traditional finance events leave out - younger investors, first-timers, people who want to learn but don't want to sit through three hours of jargon to do it.

We did the first one in 2022. It sold out, the AFR wrote about it, and people have been asking when the next one is ever since.
